How to Care for Fine Jewellery, According to Our Atelier

Every week, pieces arrive at our atelier that have been loved a little too carelessly — chains knotted in drawers, pearls dulled by perfume, prongs worn thin from decades of unnoticed knocks. Almost all of it is preventable with five small habits.

Last on, first off

Jewellery should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off. Perfume, hairspray and lotions are the quiet enemies of lustre — especially for pearls and mother-of-pearl, whose organic surfaces absorb whatever lands on them.

Store pieces apart

Gold is softer than most people imagine, and diamonds — the hardest natural material — will happily scratch everything around them. Keep each piece in its own pouch. The original Aquison box is designed for exactly this.

Clean gently, inspect yearly

Lukewarm water, a drop of mild soap and a baby-soft brush restore most gold jewellery in minutes. What you cannot do at home is check tension in settings — bring pieces in once a year and we will clean and inspect them, free, for life.
